Official web site of artist, Barbara Serbent, formerly Barbara Matteo

These prints comprise a series entitled "The Birds And The Bee" featuring colored pencil drawings of twenty different birds and one honeybee drawn from the outstanding collections of avian life at California's Pacific Grove Natural History Museum, The Smithsonian's Museum of Natural History, Washington, DC, and from other sources. The drawings were expertly captured and superimposed on a personal photographic landscape background by Jim Serbent. All these and dozens of other birds were encountered many times as part of an adventurous project undertaken between 2000 and 2004 when I and my dog, Truman, set out across the country seven times on loop journeys that took us to each of the American states in search of the perfect landscape to paint. Check out that 36,000 mile sojourn in "The Landscape Project" portion of this website.
